Gates Swimming Pool to Open Saturday - Byrnes Opening Postponed

May 30, 2019 – Gates Swimming Pool will open for the season this Saturday, June 1 at 11:00am while the opening of  Byrnes Swimming Pool is postponed due to an underground pipe break. 

In order to accommodate the public Gates hours will be expanded for the first two weeks of the swim season.  The modified Gates Pool schedule is as follows:

June 1st and 2nd:
11am-5pm open swim

 June 3rd-7th:
6:30pm-8:30pm night swim

 June 8th & 9th:
11am-5pm open swim

 June 10th-14th:
11am-4:30pm open swim
6:30pm-8:30pm night swim

 Swim lessons have also been relocated to Gates Pool for the June 3rd-June14th session.

Season passes will be honored at the Cedar Valley SportsPlex from June 10th-14th, from 1pm-3pm for open swim. Pass holders should enter through the West entrance with their passes. 

“We understand the disappointment of swimmers this delay may cause. We hope the accommodations we are making at Gates and SportsPlex will help,” say Mark Gallagher, Waterloo Leisure Services Recreation Services Manager. “Our city crews and private contractors are working diligently to repair the pool as quickly as possible. We will provide updates to the public as repairs progress”
