    6. You can report it using Report a Problem web page or call (319) 291-4440, or send us an email. You are welcome to walk in and discuss the situation. We are located at 408 E. 6th Street. We will conduct one or more traffic studies and inform you of the outcome. Some improvements are minor and can be done quickly. Major improvements may take a few years to complete.

  6. People are speeding in my neighborhood. Can you install stop signs to slow them down?

    7. No. Stop signs are not for controlling speeds.

  7. Our street is too dark. Can you install a light?

    8. We can only install new lights where permitted by City Street Lighting Policy. This is normally at traffic conflict points such as intersections.

  8. How do I apply for a speed hump?

    9. Waterloo installs speed humps on City streets with speed limit of 25 mph or less where there is a speeding problem. You need to submit a speed hump petition to be considered for a speed hump. Once we receive the petition we will conduct the appropriate studies. If the studies show a speed hump is needed we contact the Engineering, Police, and Fire departments. If they do not express opposition and if there are funds available we will install a speed hump.
