Welcome to the City Clerk's Office

The City Clerk is appointed by the City Council and serves as support for the Mayor and seven Council members. The City Clerk is responsible for duties defined by the Code of Iowa and designated by the City Council.

These duties include preparation of City Council agendas; recording and maintaining all Council minutes, resolutions, and ordinances; issue of various licenses and permits; oversee the Cable Commission and Memorial Hall Commission.

The City Clerk regularly provides information concerning city records to other City Departments, general public, and media. The City Clerk's Office stands at the center of a complex communication network to transmit information concerning city government and its operation.

*City Council Meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month. On the 2nd and 4th Mondays, the previous city council meeting will be re-aired.

Income Offset Program
The Offset Program is a method used by the State of Iowa to collect money owed to the State under Chapter 8A.504 of the Code of Iowa. The Iowa Code directs the Department of Administrative Services, State Accounting Enterprise (DAS-SAE) to establish and maintain a procedure to collect against any claim owed to a person by a state agency, and then apply the money owed to the person against the debt owed by the person to the State of Iowa.
