The primary goals of the Finance Department are to ensure that the City's financial assets are protected through the implementation of sound financial policies and procedures and to provide users with meaningful financial data. The Finance Department serves as the primary advisor to the Mayor and City Council about financial issues.
Services Provided by The Finance Department
The Finance Department provides centralized financial services for all city departments and has responsibility for applying professional accounting practices to maintain the City's financial records. The department is responsible for items such as:
- Providing technical and clerical support for the budget process
- Internal financial reporting
- External financial reporting, including the preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report
- Coordination of the annual financial statement audit
- Review and monitoring of all invoices paid by the City
- General oversight for revenue collection and billing processes
- Grant monitoring support
- Treasury management
- Debt issuance and administration
- Development and implementation of financial policies and procedures
